- Load up a web browser, and in the address bar, type: http://www.blogger.com
- If you have a ‘Google account’ then you can “Sign In”, if not then click the “Sign Up” button.
- Now you have an account you can create a Blog.
- Name your blog something relevent to the information you will put on it.
- This will be the web-address of your blog. Make it short and relevent.
- Choose how you want it to look (this can be changed afterwards) and click “Create blog”
- Click “New Post” button to the right of the blog you created
- Give your post a title.
- Write your article here
- Click “Publish” when you’re finished
A catalogue of 'stuff' which somehow will help me through life by helping me remember problems I've solved, how I solved them and thoughts which will be otherwise forgotten (some of which might be of use later on).

Scanning with the Nikon CoolScan 8000 and Nikon Scan 4
To scan in your negs/slides in a high quality you are best off using the
Nikon Coolscan 8000.
Log in and load Nikon Scan 4 located in - Applications
> Nikon Software > Nikon Scan 4

- When Nikon Scan is fully loaded, switch on the Nikon Coolscan 8000, making sure the cover is up (closed)
- When you get a message on screen that the cover is up, push the cover down.
- Load your film/slides into the holder
- Load the holder into the scanner. Look for the arrow on the holder to orient it the correct way. Be gentle and eventually it will take the film in.
- You may need to wait, but eventually a pull out button will appear on screen. Click this to see the number of slides.
- Click on a slide (or hold down shift to select more) and press preview. This will do a 'quick' scan of the slides.
- Clicking on one of these slides now gives you a preview
- Click a slide (or multiple) and click "Scan"
If you've selected multiple slides, another dialogue box appears. Click
on “Browse” and navigate to one of
the Local Hard Drives - i.e. Scratch Disk or OS X > Users >
Shared
NOTE: You cannot save to you
Home Drive, you need to save to the Machine.
Click - File > Save.
Navigate to one of the Local Hard Drives - i.e. Scratch Disk or OS X

Scanning using HP Scan 2.4.4 and HP Scanjet 4370
In ‘Finder’ go to Applications > Hewlett-Packard > HP Scan
The first time you run the software, it will ask you which scanner to use.
1. Choose the scanner and press Continue
2. Choose the most relevant option
3. Click Scan
4. Select the most relevant
5. Check the resolution (more than 300dpi if you are enlarging your image)
6. Click Save

Printing on the Epson Stylus Pro 7600
It is best to work from a ready-made local login on this machine:
Username: Print
Password: print
Load your picture up into Photoshop. You need to make sure it is the right size so in the menu's, slelect Image > Image Size. You can change the height or width to what you want.

- Select the printer named: N239 - Epson Stylus Pro 7600
- Click on the Page setup and select the right page size (for roll select Super A1) or create a Custom Paper Size (see next image)
- Click on the orientation of the page
- Change the size of the picture by dragging the corners or using the numbers
- Click on Print to get to the next dialogue box

- Select the printer named: N239 - Epson Stylus Pro 7600
- Select the right Paper Size. If it is not in the list create a custom paper size (see next image)
- Change the "Copies and Pages" option to "Print Settings"
- Change the "Media Type" to the appropriate setting
- Change Print Quality to "Superfine - 1440"
- Click "Save" to print, BUT check the printer is OK first (next image)

- To make a new custom paper size click the "+"
- If you're printing on the A1+ roll paper make sure the width is 61.55 cm
- Name it something appropriate
- Click OK once the Paper Size is right

- Switch it on
- Check it is on either "Roll with Autocut" or "Sheet" depending upon what you are printing on
- Release the handle and fee paper in
- Make sure it is straight and then close the handle
- Press the Pause button if asked
It should now feed the paper through and check out if its straight. If you get an error message, feed the sheet in again , double checking if it's straight.

Now, if it starts printing something and you haven't sent anything to print it is probably someone else's print, in which case hold the Pause button for 3 seconds that should cancel the job. Also check the print queue by clicking on the print shortcut at the bottom of the screen.
When you're sure everything is good, on the computer - press PRINT
